ABOUT

Our story

We were compelled to create this space uniquely for Asian Canadians in film because of the unity that has been missing across Canada. Coupled with the recent uptick in anti-Asian racism and the growing cultural shift toward open and honest discussion about race and representation, it was clear that it was time for us to be seen and heard.

The violence currently being inflicted upon members of our community has only highlighted that silence is not a sustainable survival strategy, but instead taking control of our narrative, is. Our stories must convey us as whole, multi-dimensional human beings. Gone are the days of putting our heads down to avoid confrontation. Gone are the days of fitting in to get ahead.

Today, we stand out.

We understand and acknowledge that the Asian diaspora is complex and nuanced, so we welcome any who identify as Asian Canadian, and are currently working in or seriously pursuing a career in the film industry. We will maintain the integrity of the community as a safe space to speak openly and honestly by ensuring there is only respectful discourse that is kind and inclusive.

We will host events with the express goals of educating Asian Canadian talent, creating practical opportunities, and advocating for the community to spearhead real systemic change. Beginning with town halls, panels, workshops, and boot camps, led by experienced film professionals, educators, and decision-makers, we intend to make this space a training ground and leading source of talent for Asian Canadians in film.

We are a non-profit, volunteer-run grassroots organization, so please don’t hesitate to contact us if you are interested in being a part of the team or contributing as a mentor and/or educator.
